Blackie and the Rodeo Kings

for the echo, cd provided but never published

Let’s Frolic
True North Records

This is a release that is a sheer pleasure to listen to, and you can hear the pleasure these three lengendary musicians find in playing with one another. There is a sense of mutual appreciation, encouragement and camaraderie, that lends well, audibly, to the musical chemistry In trademark BARK style this is a freewheeling collection of roots-groovy, bluesy, alt-country surf-jazz songs that defy pigeonholing. Great playing and appealing vocals make repeated listening a delight to the syngergistic third such album collaboration between the legendary award winning Colin Linden, Stephen Fearing and Tom Wilson.

Ask A Publisher

Q. why are you the best publisher for the project?
Q. what type of support can the writer expect (editing/research/promo)?
Q. what are the most common causes of failure between a meeting of this type and getting a book to the shelf?
Q. what should an experienced author ask?
Q. what would the typical financial return on this kind of book be?
Q. provide an over view of process?
Q. what are the next steps?

Someone please remind me again about the Nick Lowe story?

He like stopped opening his Socan cheques because they were always for $.44 or $.77 a nickle or a dime or whatever. And then one day, he's going thru all this mail and finds a cheque big enough to go out and buy a house that afternoon. Isn't that how it went?

what i liked about thursday nite's second act was the song where the cute-truly-valued-add chick and the even more fully multi-instrumentalist main perhaps songwriter guy, was their number where they banged, jumping also, on that black shiny drum. the song was about not having time to argue i think.

nate's set was of course also great. and, his parents were there!
elvis costello said "you get 20 years to write your first album and six months to write your second"

further more, many women would argue that's too optimistic, being sure to mention that career longevity has always also been more elusive for female performers than their male counterparts. but women who steer their own careers, navigating each bump and curve themselves last longer (vs. buring hot and out)...
